Shandon & Heathwood
Shandon: First and foremost
You don’t have to spend much time in the Columbia area before you hear one particular community mentioned time and again. Ask anyone to name a neighborhood off the top of their head. Chances are they’ll say Shandon. And for good reason. Shandon is the quintessential Columbia neighborhood; among the first, and still among the best. When you visit Shandon, park your car and walk. Stroll along Blossom, Woodrow or King Street, surrounded by ancient hardwoods and beautiful Depression-era bungalows. You’ll find each corner has its own character and charm. You’ll meet Shandon residents on the sidewalks, in their yards, chatting on their front porches. There’s something about this place. It isn’t just Five Points or Devine Street shops, or powerhouse schools Hand, Dreher and A.C. Moore. To live here is to be a part of something special.
Heathwood: Seclusion and convenience
Heathwood is one of Columbia’s most picturesque–and prestigious–communities. Some of Columbia’s most impressive homes line these winding, wooded streets. Heathwood offers both seclusion and convenience. You’re a five-minute car ride from happening Devine Street and busy Forest Drive, but off the beaten path. Five Points and downtown are nearly as close. The schools of Heathwood are top-notch: Brennen, A.C. Flora and Dreher all have stellar academic reputations.
